Detail
`The Korea Junior Chamber of Commerce (KJC) celebrates the 20th anniversary of its founding on March 19, 1972. The Junior Chamber International (JCI), of which the KJC is a member, was established in 1915 by Henry Giessenbier, an American. An organization of intelligent and dedicated youths aged between 20 and 40, the JCI now has about a half million members in over 9,000 communities of more than 90 countries. Transcending nationality, race and creed, the JCI is aimed at building a better world through development of individual ability and leadership of youths whose inspiring, enthusiastic actions will be instrumental in carrying out the task. The JCI, active in various social welfare projects, has its headquarters in Coral Gables, Florida, the United States. The KJC, which formally joined the JCI and was ratified as a regular member on March 19, 1952, was initiated in Pyongtaek, Kyonggi-do, Korea, by a group of patriotic, vigorous young men who determined to help rebuild the nation that was then laid waste by the Korean War started on June 25, 1950, by the armed aggression of the north Korean Communists. The KJC membership now exceeds 10,000 in 121 localities throughout the country. In honor of remarkable achievements made by the KJC during the past 20 years, and in the hope that the organization, through its youthful, exemplary activities, will carry on its leading role in a national movement for moral reform and enhancement to expedite the nation`s community development and modernization, while further contributing to the cause of world peace, the Ministry of Communications is issuing this commemorative stamp.`
