`The Seventh Ministerial Meeting of the Asian and Pacific Council(ASPAC) will be held in Seoul from 14 to 16 June 1972. ASPAC comprises, as members, countries located in the Asian and Pacific region. The organization aims to achieve peace, freedom and prosperity in the region through discussions and consultations on matters of common concern and through increased cooperation among member countries in the economic, social cultural and other fields. ASPAC was created in Seoul in June 1966. The Republic of Korea, Australia, the Republic of China, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Republic of the Philippines, the Kingdom of Thailand and the Republic of Vietnam were represented at that inaugural meeting. Ever since, the member countries have hosted in rotation its annual Ministerial Meetings. Since the inception of the organization, five joint projects have been undertaken and are currently in operation: namely, the Registry of Scientific and Technical Services, the Cultural and Social Centre, the Food and Fertilizer Technology Centre, the Economic Cooperation Centre and the Maritime Cooperation Scheme. The projects have contributed significantly to the deepening of mutual understanding and the increasing of cooperation among member countries. The forthcoming Ministerial Meeting will be attended by the delegates of all member countries, observers and the directors of the joint projects. The Ministry of Communications is issuing postage stamp commemorating the Seventh Ministerial Meeting of ASPAC to give the organization wider publicity among the Koreans. The Ministry hopes that ASPAC will further contribute to the achievement of peace, freedom and prosperity throughout the region.`
