Detail
`In the wake of western current thought which was accepted by the opportunity of Gapsin Coup`Detat in 1884, this country began to bring in operation partly the new educational system including women`s public education.
After that enlightenment era, the Hansung Girl`s School, the first state-run secondary education institute and predecessor of present Kyunggi Girl`s Middle and High School, was established on April 1, 1908 in the reign of King Soonjong, Yi dynasty.
Looking back upon the past it was an epoch-making event to our forefathers to decide to educate women who traditionally been regarded as inferior to men under the circumstances that the feudalistic thoughts were prevalent.
Through the period of 60 years, this school have contributed not only to the women education, but also the extension of women`s rights and sound bringing up succeeding generations. Furthermore, it is really fortunate that Hansung Girl`s High School has developed into now Kyunggi Girl`s High School with the untiring efforts.
The Ministry of Communications issues the postage stamp in commemorating the 60th anniversary of the state-run secondary education of women.`
