Detail
`December 10 this year marks the 20th anniversary of proclaiming the universal declaration of human rights. They are natural and inherent rights of men with regard to human freedom and equality. The thought of human rights originated in the ancient Greece and has been evolved through the history until it has become the first principle of the law chiefly owing to the theory of the natural law and the French Revolution. On December 10, 1948, the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the declaration of human rights drafted and confirmed by a 18-man human rights committee headed by Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt as Chairman. The universal declaration has served to awake the world to the importance of human rights. The United Nations has designated this year as international year of human rights to commemorate the 20th anniversary and plans many world-wide programs designed to advance the cause of human dignity and human rights. The Ministry of Communications joins the world in celebrating the event and issues a commemorative stamp hoping that it will help heighten respect to human rights among the people as well as build a serene community that honors human rights above any thing else.`
