Detail
`President Diory Hamani of Republic of Niger will pay an official state visit to Korea, October 27. His visit, the second visit to Korea ever paid by African presidents will mark a new moment in promoting mutual cooperation in agriculture, livestock-farming and trade, and as well in futhering mutual coordination in their diplomacy at the United Nations.
The Republic of Niger which became independent of France, August 3, 1960, is primarily agricultural and pastoral country, located in the heart of the West Africa, comprising 34,4 million population over an area of 1,267,000 square kilo-meters.
Diplomatically, it is a pro-western neutral country which retains close ties with France and internally, it maintains one-party rule under a presidential system. This country has supported Korea every year at the United Nations.
Korea formally established diplomatic relations with Niger, October 10, 1964 and sent many Korean medical doctors to that country to provide medical assistance.
The Ministry of Communications will issue a commemorative stamp on October 27, in honor of President Diori Hamani`s visit to Korea, with a hope that the friendly relations between our two countries be further cemented.`
