`The Japan World Exposition of the Expo `70 will be held in Osaka, Japan for a six-month duration beginning on March 15 with a theme ``Progress and Harmony for Mankind.`` 78 nations including the Republic of Korea are participating in this which is certain to be the largest and most magnificent ever held in history, with each country pavilion racing in making festivals of their culture and industries and unfolding human achievements and future dreams.
The theme of Korea`s participation in this world exposition which marks Korea`s third participation in international fairs is ``Deeper Understanding and Friendship.`` The Korean pailion with a space floor of 2,400 ㎡ over a site of 4,150 ㎡ symbolizes by its outer look the rapid progress taking place in Korea and is expected to give a visitor a renewed picture of rapidly growing Korea.
The exhibits on display will show a visitor the past, present and future Korea which he can view in one quick look.
In addition to a thousand piece of exhibits, the Pavilion will present daily show performances by a traditional Korean dancing group, provide a Korean handicraft sale shop and a Korean restaurant in which a visitor can have a try at Korean food.
Korea`s participation in this Expo `70 will give a good opportunity for Korea to advertise its creative works and process of its cultural development and to introduce to the world the industrial progress achieved during the first and second five-year economic plan periods.
It is also certain to help pormote the mutual understanding and closer ties among participation nations, thus serving the purpose of Korea`s participation.
The Ministry of Communications issues a commemorative stamp in honor of the world-wide event with a hope that this stamp contributes to widely publicing the spirit of the fair to the people both at home and abroad.`
