`The Ministry of Communications started a fable series last September issuing every other month stamps featuring traditional Korean fable stories. As the last part of the fable series, four stamps are scheduled to issue on May 5, the Children`s Day, with themes selected from the tale of ``Heungbu and Nolbu.`` The favorite children`s story, ``Heungbu and Nolbu,`` was an adaptation from an orally passed down folklore story of Heungbu. Though neither its author nor exact age of the writing are known, it has been very popular from long time ago because of its humorous touches and the rhythmical style easy of reciting. The story relates the consequence of due rewards for the good and wicked men. There lived two brothers. Elder Nolbu was well off with wealth inherited from the parents but as he was greedy man, he drove out his younger brother Heungbu from his home. Heungbu, though poor, was a good and kind-hearted man. Therefore, when he saw a little swallow sufferring from a broken leg after a fumbling slip off the rooftop, he rushed to the little bird to treat the pain of the bird. As a reward, he received a seed of pumpkin which he sowed in his yard. There grew a fine and big pumpkin and from which burst out various treasures. He became a rich man over night. Jealous of the wealth of his younger brother and learning how he became rich, greedy Nolbu purposefully broke a leg of a swallow to get a seed. Surely he succeeded, in obtaining one, but from his pumpkin spilled out every kind of filthy and evil things which engulped his house and all his wealth. He turned a most miserable begger in the world but Heungbu warmly greeted his brother to his home.`
