`The 47th National Athletic meet will be held in Seoul from October 10 through October 15. The national athletic meet that has been alternately held in the major cities of this country, returns to Seoul this year in five years. More than 13,000 staff officials and athletes presenting two Special Cities of Seoul and Pusan, nine Provinces and the Korean residents in Japan will be competing with all their might and main at the meeting for the honor of Cities and Provices they represent. 26 entries of the sport events will take place in Seoul Main Stadium that was recently expanded to accomodate more than 35,000 spectators and in other 26 auxiliary stadiums throughout the city. Particularly, the baseball ground of the Seoul Stadium, with complete illuminating system resently installed, will make possible the first night match in this country at the meet. The purpose of the National Athletic Games is to help create the respectable national character by cultivating the people`s body-building and sportsmanship and as well to promote the sport fervor and the fraternity feeling among the people through sports activities. The National Athletic Meet will provide a good opportunity for our athletes to demonstrate their talents and abilities to the rest of the world. The Ministry of Communications will issue a postage stamp in commemoration of the big national sports event, wishing to stimulate the interest of the people in sports.`
