Detail
The aviation industry is a knowledge-intensive and future-oriented industry that applies the latest technologies such as semiconductors and IT and shows consistent growth. Korea has continued to remarkably develop cutting-edge technologies and human resources with Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), and its standing is increasing in the global defense market. After introducing the fixed-wing and rotary-wing versions of Surion as part of the series Korean Aircrafts, Korea Post showcases T-50B (Acrobatic Demonstrator), KUH-1 (Korean Utility Helicopter) and RQ-101 (Corps Level UAV). Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) contributes to strengthening the independent defense of the Korean Armed Forces by developing, producing, and exporting Korean aircraft. With the successful development of KT-1 (Basic Trainer), T-50 (Advanced Jet Trainer), KUH-1 (Korean Utility Helicopter), and RQ-101 (Corps Level UAV), KAI has reinforced the national defense. By developing KF-X (Korea Fighter eXperimental) and LAH/LCH (Light Armed Helicopter/Light Civil Helicopter), it has led the Korean Aerospace industry. T-50B (Black Eagles), an Acrobatic Demonstrator developed based on T-50, is deployed in the ROKAF and performs aerobatics. It showed great aerobatics in the Waddington International Airshow in 2012, in which it participated for the first time, and won the Boeing Trophy for best display, raising Korea`s global standing around the world. KUH-1 (Surion) is Korea`s first localized Utility Helicopter. It features the automatic flight control system (AFCS), navigation system, and 3D electronic maps, which allow it to perform missions in various terrains at night or under bad weather. It can perform landing operations and medical transport functions and be used as Police, Firefighting, Forest service, and Coast Guard Helicopter to protect people’s life and properties. RQ-101 (Songolmae) is Korea`s first localized Corps Level UAV. It can obtain videos during the day and night and effectively perform reconnaissance missions with high resolution image detection systems, automatic return functions, and remote control features.
