Detail
`The postage stamps issued in denominations of 4 won and 2 won respectively are to commemorate the 370th anniversary of the great naval victory won by Admiral Lee Sun Shin on the sea off Hansan Isle by destroying about 60 out of 73 Japanese battle ships of various size on 14 August 1592 (8 July in lunar calendar) when the Japanese invaded Korea during the year.
Two types of the Keu-Buk-Sun (Battle ship built in a shape of a turtle) and a concave battle formation (crane`s wing battle formation) used by the Korean navy for the attack and verses and ode writen by Adm. himself were adopted for the design of the stamps.`
