As the capital of the Republic of Korea and an international city with a population of nearly ten million, Seoul stands at the center of the nation’s politics, economy, society, and culture. Seoul, a city that changes every day blending the past and the present, is considered a travel destination that many tourists want to visit owing to the popularity of Korean culture. The Korea Post is issuing a commemorative stamp series featuring Seoul as the first city, depicting the day and night scenes of Korea. Located in the western center of the Korean Peninsula, Seoul served as the capital of Baekje for about 500 years and then of Joseon for another 500 years. It has since taken position as the capital of the Republic of Korea, continuing its history to this day. Seoul is a city of culture and history with urban green spaces as well as waterfront spaces. Seoul, a beautiful and dynamic city where culture and history are alive, also boasts various landmarks, such as leisurely urban green spaces as well as waterfront spaces, from the Hangang River, which flows through the middle of the city lined with splendid sights and entertainment, to Gwanghwamun Square, which has been reborn as the epicenter of history and culture, where citizens and tourists can enjoy the city to the fullest. This commemorative stamp series depicts a wide panoramic cityscape view of Seoul. We hope this serves as an opportunity to experience the charms of Seoul, a 600-year-old capital city that never sleeps, through the splendid panoramic day and night views of Seoul.
