`The Chindo dog has been adopted for designing the forthcoming issue of 20 chun regular postage stamp. It is an indigenous breed to Chindo Island. Cholla Namdo, Korea. The height of a male dog is 43cm while the height of a female dog is 39cm. The coats are generally yellowish-brown but there are sometimes yellow, white, black or grey ones also. The Chindo dog is characterized by the well-developed wide breast, stronger strength than any other dog of a similar size, narrow hip, thick neck, octagonal face, straight ears leaning forward, wide space between ears but narrow between eyes, swollen eyelids, brown eyeballs (grey for white dogs), wide forehead, well-developed jar, ten uper eyebrows, a beard of ten hairs under the lower jar, rolled up leftwards tail, keen sense of hearing and smell. The Chindo dog is well suited for a house dog or a hound and is protected by the Covernment for conservation of the original breed. The Korean art during the Three Kingdoms period (4th through mid-7th century) is represented by many masterpieces of the Buddhist art. Especially, ``Sitting Miruk in Deep Speculation`` is most famous as the typical Buddhist image of the Three Kingdoms period among all others extant today. This Buddhist image, 80cm high, made of bronze is the image of sitting Miruk Bosal with a graceful smile, crossing the right leg over the knee of the other and supporting the chin lightly with two fingers of right hand, in deep speculation. In the interest of presenting this superior piece of the ancient Korean arts widely to the public, the regular postage stamp of 50 chun will be issued with its image as the design. The most famous world over and typical work of art of Koryo Dynasty is the Koryo celadon wares. The history of Koryo celadon began in 10th century. The Koryo celadon is known for its beautiful under-glaze decoration and it is said to have been ``one of the ten best things in the universe`` according to an old Chinese saying. To present this superior ancient art work of Korea widely to the public, ``Water Pot Shaped as a Carp-Dragon,`` one of the Koryo celadon wares made in 11th-12th century, has been adopted as the design for the forthcoming issue of 5 won regular postage stamp. This water pot is designed in combination of shapes of a dragon`s head and the body of a carp and it is known particularly for its fantastic design.`
