`The Ministry of Communications will issue third part of animal series for this year in three new different stamps depicting firefly, grasshopper and Sericinus telamon. Firefly is nocturnal beetle which belongs to the family of Lampyridae. Its body is inbred with swarthiness at the back, redness at the abdomen and a black strip marks the middle part of theexternal wings, and it is about 12-18mm in its length. This insect has a light-producing organ at its tip, and from this organ it emits rays by oxidizing the luciferin. At night, they are seen like small fire flakes flying in the air. Watersides and below the roots of trees and plants are the preferred places of their spawning. The spawned larvae live in the fresh water, and then hibernate at the reverside. 400 odd species of this insect are believed to be distributed over the world and 7 species of them are found in this country. Grasshopper Grasshopper, belonging to the family of Tettigonidae karny, is 30-36mm long insect. The body is tinted with light blue, the projection of head part with yellow-brown, while a large brown spot is found at the fore back. The grasshopper has two large antennae longer than its body length, and fore wings are slightly longer than the tip of the organ. It has a large brown sibilant organ with a light green oval sibilant part. The first imagines are seen in August and they live in the neighbourhood of human habitations, rushing to lamp lights at night. This insect is named in Korea ``Betchangi``, because its sonourous chirp sounds as if ``Betchang, Betchang``. They are distributed in Korea, Japan and China. Sericinus telamon Sericinus telamon is a large butterfly which belongs to the family of papilionidae. It is very large butterfly of 50-76mm in both wings` straight length. Some of them have a triangle-shaped black-brown spots under the fore wings and its color changes according to seasonal change of spring, Summer and Autumn. The red spots and the long tails at the rear wings only adds to the beauty of the butterfly. In Korea, it is called ``Silk-butterfly``, because its wings appear to be silky softness and smoothness. They are distributed in Korea, China and some other places.`
